Your first business
Start as a seller. You buy goods from the wholesale market or directly from your fellow players and sell them to the population in your stores.
Choose a city and get planning permission
Think about which industry you like and which city you would like to start in. You can select a city using the mini-map at the top left.
The market overview (Products menu) gives you a good impression of what is missing in this town (marked in green).
Also check the wholesale market to see if there are other players from whom you can buy here. Filter on industry or supermarket. Lokalo-Best is only an emergency solution, better are brand products with quality and reputation.
Each town has its own wholesale market and you cannot buy from other towns immediately.
Baked goods, flowers, butchers and fruit and vegetables mainly have perishable products, which can be interesting but also difficult.
If you are unsure, look in Statistics > Rankings > Profit/Net Worth and see how the top 10 have made a lot of profit in a short time. These statistics usually include very young companies.
Once you have decided, get a building permit and read the mail for some small change.
Build a store, buy a vehicle, hire staff
There are few customers in the white outskirts, but not so many other players sell here either. There are more inhabitants in the red center, but almost everyone builds here and the properties are more expensive. Both can work very well. Your store has a range of 6 spaces and should not contain too much green meadow or blue water.
Build your first store as large as possible, leaving just enough money for a vehicle and some goods. All subsequent buildings need time.
Then get some staff, if you can't find any on the labor market, "hire at random"help.
Buy a vehicle in the same city and a driver for it. Open your store, otherwise you won't be able to deliver anything there.

Products > Overview is a good source of information that shows you not only the factory type but also the minimum number of storage slots you need. Note that in addition to the storage slots for the raw materials, you will also need an additional storage slots for the finished product.
Later, build the research laboratory and an advertising agency in each city where you want to sell. Beware, the construction costs are very high!
