The Knete is a river that rises near Zasterhausen, flows through the Schottertal, divides the town of Reibach and then flows into the Kiesmeer near the town of Mooshain.


The following towns are located near the Schottertal: Aschenweiler, Groschenheim, Monetenburg, Schotterfried, Barstädt and Krötingen.


The Kohlensee is also located nearby.
